Do you want to make an aesthetic Instagram feed? Do you want to keep GCES relevant? If you answered no to both of these questions, this position is for you!
The VP Marketing leads the marketing team, Director Marketing and Director Design, to manage GCES’s socials to increase the association’s reach and engagement. They also plan the marketing calendar for the whole year to make sure all events are covered and relationships are maintained with other associations.
Opportunities:
- Lead and manage the Marketing Team
- Develop Marketing Plans and strategies throughout the year to increase GCES’s reach and engagement
- Ensure proper coverage of GCES Events through pictures, videos, and more
- Take care of all blurbs and messages required for social media posts, events, and more
- Work with the VP Sponsorship to create and manage the Sponsorship Package
- Form relationships with other associations for outreach and collective marketing
- Design and execute all merchandise (swag) purchases and sales throughout the year

The VP Finance is in charge of the cash flow of the association. They approve transactions, manage the budget, take care of reimbursements, create invoices, manage sponsorship money and more. If you’re good with numbers, this position is for you!
Opportunities:
- Responsible for accounting all expenses and receivables of GCES
- Control and balance all cash flow and maintain an organized record of such
- Write and submit the annual requested budget to the ECA
- Manage cash box requisitions and transactions
- Manage the reimbursement of council-paid items with the ECA
- Work with the VP Finance of the ECA on all financial-related aspects of the society and ensure that GCES follows ECA’s Financial Policies
- Expected to maintain GCES’s journal entries and process bank deposits effectively
- Create spend reports based on current spending and previous fiscal year

The VP External is in charge of growing and maintaining relationships with industry contacts in fields related to entrepreneurship. Whether it’s connecting with our network of entrepreneurs, finding judges for UpStart or reaching out to keynote speakers, they are always spreading the word about GCES.
Opportunities:
- Act as the liaison between GCES and other entrepreneurship societies/organizations from other schools or within different faculties at Concordia.
- Communicate with external organizations when requesting guest speakers or other partnerships
- Seek new opportunities or partnerships for GCES in the form of a network of contacts (business contacts, instructional contacts, other student-groups and faculty contacts), and consistently act to maintain these relationships
- Organize the judging for UpStart alongside the Events team,
- Be in charge of coordinating with guest speakers, judges, and other external contacts during the UpStart Competition, and other GCES activities

The VP Technology is in charge of maintaining and updating our GCES website. They also take care of any tech infrastructures GCES uses during our events.

- Manage website, write quality code and innovate on the digital presence of GCES.
- Collaborate with designers to craft our main website and build modern interactive web apps
- Create content for the website in conjunction with the Marketing Team and/or other Executive(s).
- Build data dashboards to keep track of important data and statistics (for e.g. participation of people at events, etc.)
- Help with technology infrastructure during UpStart competition and other events
Skills:
- Web-Development experience (HTML, CSS, JS, WordPress)

The Director of Sponsorship works closely with the VP Sponsorship to grow and maintain relationships with potential sponsors. If you are not shy and you love finding and speaking with really interesting people and aren’t shy to reach out, this is the position for you!

- Actively and continuously seek external sponsorship opportunities as well as maintains long-term partnerships with the sponsors.
- Maintain a master contact list with list of potential sponsors and outreach progress
- Maintain and update the Sponsorship Package.

ORGANIZE UPSTART
Every year, GCES hosts UpStart, an innovative entrepreneurship competition where students come together to learn new skills and put their entrepreneurial strategies to the test. JOIN OUR TEAM
Can you pinpoint everything that went wrong with the Fyre Festival, Rainfurrest and Dashcon? If so, this might be the right position for you!
The VP Events caters to the student body by seeking and managing new and existing event opportunities to strengthen students’ entrepreneurial toolbox. The VP Events will oversee the operations of the Director of Events while also taking on any of their roles when necessary. The Events team takes care of all events-related logistics to ensure a smooth experience for students and sponsors.
Opportunities:
- Seek new and oversee established event opportunities for students to strengthen their entrepreneurial toolbox (conferences, social events, networking opportunities, panel discussions, etc.)
- Organize all annual and develop new social events (these may include, but are not limited to, Lizard Lounges, team bonding activities/events, etc.)
- Organize the annual UpStart Competition and the incubator program
- Work with the President and executive council to create a calendar of events for the year
- Work with the VP Internal to book rooms and organize logistics of events (themes, catering, ticket sales for events, etc.)
- Work with the VP External to create events using the network of contacts acquired
- Act as the Project Manager for events — delegate tasks, keep track of deadlines, etc.

The VP Internal is in charge of everything to do with communications and relations with the faculty, ECA, and other parties within Concordia. They also work closely with the President to ensure that GCES runs smoothly.
Opportunities:
- Act as the official liaison between the ECA and GCES, as well as with other societies, faculty, and administration
- Work with Hospitality Concordia and Dean of Students for space reservation (official booking officer)
- Ensure the organization of team meetings, creation of meeting agendas and minutes
- Act as the primary source for funding applications within Concordia (CSU, CCSL, etc.)
- Support the Events Team during the UpStart competition. Tasks include booking rooms, booking caterers, and aiding in organizing the overall logistical needs of the event
- Be in charge of the GCES Office (handle keys, coordinate with faculty, etc.)

The Directors of Events work alongside the Vice President of Events to handle the management and logistics of all GCES Events. The Director of Events is in charge of planning the logistics of events and taking care of all events related tasks.
Opportunities:
- Assist the VP Events in event planning and management
- Contact and coordinate with external vendors including caterers, photographers, venues, etc.
- Build schedules and task breakdowns for all events
- Take charge of registration of participants during events and handle all registration-related issues
- Handle all logistics concerns during UpStart and other events (room setup, decorations, food, and more!)
- Organize the annual UpStart Competition and the incubator program

The Director of Marketing will be assisting the VP Marketing in developing GCES’ brand image & community through various social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube). The position includes designing and posting graphics for recruitment purposes, events, workshops, competitions, partnerships and more!
Opportunities:
- Work with the VP Marketing to develop GCES’s brand image
- Write and submit communications for the ECA newsletter
- Maintains and updates the GCES Website, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social-media pages
- Answer and reply to comments or messages on social media
- Take care of all blurbs and messages required for social media posts, events, and etc.
- Create the Facebook events for GCES events (works with VP Events to ensure description, date and time, etc.) and invites all potentially interested persons
- Promote GCES’s social activities among the Concordia community

The Director of Sponsorship works hand-in-hand with the VP Sponsorships to grow and maintain relationships with potential sponsors.
Opportunities:
- Actively and continuously seek external sponsorship opportunities as well as maintains long-term partnerships with the sponsors
- Maintain a master contact list with list of potential sponsors and outreach progress
- Maintain and update the Sponsorship Package.
- In charge of coordinating with the Events team for any in-kind sponsorship requests

Will be responsible for growing GCES’s presence among first year students and is of assistance to any team or executive(s) when needed. They spread the word about GCES events and will be able to set up their own!

This includes managing the social media pages and interacting with followers. They are responsible for any social media coverage needed for GCES events.

To be eligible to run for a Director position in GCES, you must be a student studying at Concordia University.
To be eligible to run for a VP position in GCES, you must fulfill the following criteria for the Fall 2022 and Winter 2023 semesters:
– Be an undergraduate student registered in a program at the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science in a credit course or its equivalent.
– Be subject to the ECA fee levy at Concordia University.
